One of Life's Greatest Blessings

There's not a better day I could have picked to begin writing in my blog again than today.  You see "10" years ago, December 16th at 3:27pm, God gave us a wonderful addition to our family.  A little baby girl named Selah Arielle Brown.  It's funny how for the nine months you are carrying your child you imagine what it would look like.  Will she have her daddy's eyes or her mother's hair color? Will she favor my side of the family or her daddy's side of the family.  Scott and I pictured Selah having brown hair, brown eyes and olive skin complexion, much like my side of the family.  To our surprise she didn't have either one of our looks.  She came out with blonde hair, blue eyes and had the fairest skin tone.  Whose child is this???
I thought for sure my Italian genes would override Scott's by a long shot but we were wrong.  Now that she is growing up to be a beautiful young lady in the Lord, we have seen many traits and characteristics that favor both sides of our families.  Selah has a heart for the Lord.  She loves to worship God in song and even writes her own lyrics.  She definately has a gift to play music, which she gets from her daddy.  She plays piano and violin.  I know the Lord is pleased with her and is blessed by her desire to serve Him whole-heartedly because as her mother, I too am blessed.  Selah is very independent and determined, which is a strong trait I carry, but on the other hand she is humble and soft with her words, which is a trait I don't carry.  LOL!!!!  No matter how she would have turned out we would love her just the same.  She is a gift from heaven.  The Lord actually gave the scripture John 3:27 to Scott the day she was born.  It says, "A man can receive nothing unless it has been given him from heaven."  We know God gave us Selah that day, just the way He ordained it to be.  He knew the color of her eyes, hair and skin.  He has numbered the hairs on her head. He knows her strengths and weaknesses.  He knows her heart.  Most importantly He knows her destiny.  I am very blessed with this little girl God allowed me to raise up, let's just hope I don't screw it up too bad.  I am honored to be the mother of Selah Arielle Brown.

Thank you Lord for giving me such a precious gift.  May I raise her to bring Glory and Honor to Your Holy Name.

Happy Birthday my baby girl - mommy is proud of you and loves you very much.

  2. Michael - I will have to get her to share those with you. They are straight from the heart of a child. Blessings to you and Mrs. Pam!
